CHRISTINE AUFDERHAAR holds both German and Swiss citizenship. She grew up in a scientifically oriented family, so her parents tried their best to prevent her from becoming a musician. Once they realised she wouldn’t change her mind, they greatly supported her in her studies, which allowed her to graduate from the ‚Conservatory Lugano’ in classical piano performance (piano class of Nora Doallo, composition class of Paul Glass).
Upon completion, she attended the Berklee College of Music and graduated in Film Scoring and Classical Composition in two years instead of the usual five years, receiving several scholarships and the Richard Levy Award.
SHORTLY THEREAFTER, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as part of a ‘Mentorship Program of the Society of Composers and Lyricists’ (SCL) with leading composers such as Alf Clausen (“The Simpsons”), Jay Chattaway (“Star Trek”) and Steve Bramson (“J.A.G.”).
CHRISTINE was honored with awards and scholarships in the USA, Germany and Switzerland. Her broad studies in various fields give her the freedom to leave the world of classical and jazz harmony behind and create her own language.
IN 2006, she was invited to the ASCAP film scoring workshop in Los Angeles, where she had the opportunity to conduct the Hollywood Studio Orchestra at the 20th Century Fox Newman Stage with her composition and meet composers at work such as Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Jeff Rona and others.
IN 2007, she was selected by the ‘Federation of Film & Audiovisual Composers of Europe’ as “European Composer 2008 for Switzerland”.
CHRISTINE AUFDERHAAR wrote the score to many award-winning films and her concert music is being performed internationally, among others in the Berlin Philharmonie, the Basler Stadttheater, the Basler Stadtcasino and many more.
